The way I see it is: A 3-way is called a 3-way because it's not a gangbang. Same for a 4-way, you might call it a full boat, all holes filled, etc, but still not a GB. But a 5-way, 4 men is a grey area because 5-way isn't really a thing you hear people say not even in porn.
