Complete, Compete With, Compement, Confuse

Good morning y'all!
Pour yourself a fresh mug of your preferred beverage for this one...
Here's a question for you all. By now most of us have seen the movie or seen references to "Jerry Maguire" and we all know that phrase popularized by the film "You complete me".
When we are looking for that special someone is it healthy to think that we need someone else to "complete" us?
Does that mindset and way of thinking imply that we are not complete without that other person or that missing piece?
I think that the way we fill in the blank speaks a lot about who we are and where we are on this journey through life. Do you see a lover as "completing" you, "competing with" you or as someone who "complements" you?
My philosophies for the purpose of this question;
Those who "complete" us, they bring something that has been missing, wanted or needed to make us feel whole and fill a void we couldn't fill ourselves. That last puzzle piece of you would that finishes the entire picture we hold on our mind.
Those who "compete with" us, they challenge us as a person, they're often competitive and want the spotlight. Some would say they skirt the line of narcissist or drama queen. They sometimes do this out of self need and in some cases it's tough love to motivate us to be the person they see beneath our surface but don't have the skills to nurture that from us. This usually doesn't end well unless the other partner is equally competitive.
Then there are those who "complement" us. This is not the verbal compliments and goes far beyond that. These are the people who lift us up with their presence and actions. They see that potential within us and feed it, they encourage us to be that better person or push harder towards our own goals without malice or personal gain. They are our sideline cheerleader or blocker that allows us push harder and reach the goals we desire and encourage us the entire time.
Lastly, we have those who just "confuse" us. These are the time wasters in our lives. They are the people who always seem to have ten problems for every solution in our lives. They distract us from our journey and goals. They can bring some fun and excitement to our lives, but the costs usually outweigh the gains and in the end they drain us of our own energy to get anything done for ourselves.
I myself typically look for those in my circles as a potential partner who fits in the "complement" category. I am attracted to those who are independent but seek like minded people in their lives who are an inspiration and motivation. Someone who can be as comfortable during a brainstorming session as they are leading a.group or a team, someone who inspires others and has a selfless side to their actions. I firmly believe that the greatest physical connections in life and in the bedroom start with the mind.
Over the past few months I have had this conversation with a very close and cherished friend who has been through a lot in their life and has experienced a slew of the "complete", "compete with" and "confuse" but never truly had the "complement" aspect in a partner / lover. It wasn't until this person decided to take life by the reigns and break the pattern that they found that person who "complements" their life. To watch their growth and success since that pivotal moment has been amazing!
So, my question to you all,.what do you seek in another person?
