I put completely cut off with only one exception. If the person is working for a contractor that requires a clearence. And only temporarily until a new background investigation is completed. I had a top secret clearance in the military. All such clearances come with a need to know proviso. After leaving my clearance timed out shortly aftet I left. No need to know. I still have Top Secret info in my brain and will never reveal it as long as I live. An oath is an oath. Some of us have integrity. Unlike those intelligence experts that blindly signed the letter. Oxymoron for them. Intelligence? Obviously not and no integrity either.
When I posted was thinking more about those where the information was involved in setting policy or strategy.
In situations like federal contractors where I assume access is limited then fine only as long as needed once no longer needed it is cut off. No making money as pundit of what you have access to.
