And it Begins....

In case there is anyone on here that isn't aware by now. I am not a fan of cold weather. And for further clarification, I'm in South Texas so cold to me is anything under 60F. That would be what in C...lets see divide by..carry the 2...yeah, still too friggin cold .

Yesterday was a great day. Sun was out, it was in the 80's. So not too bad. And I spent the entire day on the phone, on the computer. Working on a "family" drama. Frustrating beyond belief, due to the fact that I spent the whole day on it, and never got anything resolved. Enjoyed the weather outside twice for a total of maybe 30 minutes. /sigh.

Then this morning, I get up, stumble out to the kitchen to start my coffee and I hear it. Wind howling, rain pounding on the windows. I don't even want to look. But like the moth being drawn to the flame only to meet a horrible end, I have to look. Yep, looks nasty.

Against my better judgement I open the back door. Holy hell...I shut it just as quick. It's 50F, wind is blowing 20+ mph, and it's raining. Just peachy.

A hour later my daughters puppy is awake, and of course excited about going outside to pee. So i bundle up, with her looking at me like what the hell are you doing. Hurry up or I'm peeing on the floor!!! That is until I open the door and she's like, WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON OUT THERE.

It's her first cold weather and she being smarter than me, is thinking, Nah, I'm good. I'll just pee over here in the corner. So I finally have to pick her up, carry her outside and set her in the grass. She runs for the back door. I pick her up take her back to the grass, put her down. She runs for the back door. I'd like to be mad at her, but yeah..it's friggin cold outside. Finally she figures it out. She isn't going back in till she does her deed, and pees. Thank God, we can go back in.

Hour later, I'm putting on my three layers of shirts and a jacket, and I'm off to work. Drove around a bit. Checked some houses, mainly just pulled into the driveway, sat there with the heater going kind of checking. By noon, it was actually colder than it was when I was convincing the puppy to pee. So I decided to take the rest of the day off.

Yeah...I don't do cold weather well at all.

And yes, I know all you fine Canadians, what I'm describing is probably just a balmy Fall day up there, but still. LOL

Am I the only one that truly hates cold weather?

It's all about mind over matter, dressing in layers and getting your blood thick enough to be able to handle the cold. Over here, we've been on a steady diet of vodka, maple syrup and poutine since August ... It doesn't really help with the cold , but we're so hammered and well fed - we don't give a shit.... Hmmm

Yeah...first day of cold weather here...and I'm ready for spring. The reason it's easy for me to do HNW, is that's my normal attire during most of the year down here.

It's come home from work. Throw on some shorts or a swim suit, and I'm good to go.

When I moved to Colorado the first time they told me the same thing. And of course the ole..it's a dry cold, so it's not as bad. BS, 30 degrees is still cold. LOL

Now, it may affect my work, but maybe I just need to start spiking the coffee in the morning, then carrying some Cognac with me all day.

I am Canadian and I can feel your pain. I am so done with winter. I retire in 4 years and it will be no more snow in the winter for me. Having said that I'd probably be enjoying shorts and the outdoors today down there.

Hell, even some of the people down here are like that. They're in a sweat shirt and shorts. I've got long pants on , long johns, a sweat shirt, jacket and a wool hat.

I reaaaaaly don't do well in cold weather. LOL

Cold sucks. I still have my Cali blood which means shorts are my go to clothes. Now I'm gonna have to break out jeans and heavy shirts and jackets. Warm is sooo much easier.

When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro.

The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.

Our temp overnight last night was about 37. I had the bedroom window open, fan in the window and the heat turned off. Nice sleeping weather! lol

LOL..reminds me of winters at my grandparents farm. Old farm house, no insulation. They'd make a giant pallet on the floor for all of us cousins. Cover us with big old featherbeds.

House would get down to freezing the water in the toilet. LOL, but we'd be buried and warm.

WOW sounds like you had an interesting day, I wish we had weather like that here, but hell we are lucky to get traces of rain. That's the one think I do miss about Arkansas, the storms the rain and snow. I hope tonight is better for you and the puppy..

Seduce the mind and see what a wonderful adventure the body will take you on..

Every time I see you mention Arkansas, I think I'm going to mention this..then don't. So this time...

My ex moved to Flippin, (yes that's a town) Arkansas 7 years ago, and took my youngest daughter with her. I used to have to go up there, or fly her down to see her. Now she lives with me..but we still have to go up there, because my older daughter moved there with her soon to be ex. LOL

Pretty country, but waaaaay too cold. It snows. enough said.

You don't like the cold. I truly don't either. But I am home here in NH and think places in the South have too many bugs for me. Lol. My nieces moved to Waco and I should be visiting them then going to Colorado to see my nephew.(Colorado Springs). I haven't decided when to go yet. I need decent weather in both places at once. Any suggestions? LOL. Since you mentioned dogs I wanted to share a photo of my older dog. He usually likes the snow..he is a fluffy Pomeranian but in this photo he had no interest in a walk. LOL

No help on the weather for Texas, hell the weathermen can rarely get it right here. LOL Waco gets colder than San Antonio though , still not as bad as Colorado Springs. Brrrrr..

That would be me, taking the dog out in the snow. Just drop the leash and head in. Dog can come on in when he's done.

60 F converts to 15 C. That's pretty balmy for this time of year.

I have a terrible blister on my heel, caused by a new pair of boots I just bought (which will be my "walkng boots" for when it gets really wintery here); so have been continuing to wear my flip-flops when I've gone out doing errands this week,

You are definitely a WIMP. But a lovable wimp, so you can get away with it.

Everyone knows that Winter is for frolicking in the snow and cold, and then coming inside to enjoy a hot chocolate or a hot toddy, and then snuggle in the warmth with someone. Other than being with someone special, it's the contrast between the "outside and inside" that makes it all worthwhile.

Ohmyfriggingawd - even I can manage to make "the outside and inside" full of sexual tension. I must need some snuggling.

Check out my profile or and become a "watcher" of my blog FMAOPLS,to learn more about me, and for intelligent, lively, smartassy and fun discussion, with a little irreverence thrown in. "Like" or comment on my photos, and I promise I'll add more. Thanks.

Yeah, if you look up Winter Wimp in the dictionary, pretty sure it has a picture of me next to it.

Speaking of inside and outside. When I was younger..early 20's , 6 of us took a trip to Crested Butte in Colorado to go skiing for 5 days. I went out the first morning , ski'd for about 2 hours...well, tried to ski. Then said the hell with this.

Went back took a hot shower, and went and sat in the lodge. Spent the next 4 days, partying in the lodge with snow bunnies. LOL

Yeah, no way I'd live farther north than Austin ever again. LOL

The 80's would be considered a heatwave here!

Currently it's mid 50's which is pretty normal for this time of year during the day but we have had a couple of nights which left frost on my car in the morning which pisses me off as if I don't get to my daughter's house by 7 to mind her children she is late for work. Time is valuable in my mornings....coffee is more important than scraping ice.

Well, first off, coffee in the morning is damn near more important than anything.

We rarely have to scrape ice down here. Thank God. I was in Montana for most of one winter and that was just insane. LOL
